There is a chance that the new 2024 Honda Odyssey Hybrid will be released sometime next year. Unfortunately, Honda hasn’t said anything official about the new generation of the Odyssey yet, and a lot of the information in early reports is based on speculation. According to reports from a respected trade newspaper, a new generation of the Honda Odyssey may use the same hybrid system as the Insight model.
The current generation of the Honda Odyssey came out for the 2018 model year. Since then, there have only been a few small changes. So, there is good potential to make the new hybrid model a more compelling option in a field of minivans that is becoming more competitive.
2024 Honda Odyssey Hybrid Design
First and foremost, we don’t expect the styling of the 2024 Honda Odyssey Hybrid to change too much compared to the standard one. According to reports, the new minivan will have a few new trims as well as an updated mid-range Sport variant. The grille, side mirror housings, B pillars, rear pillars, lamp surrounds, and taillight trim are just a few of the external components that will be updated. The new Sport trim should be available as well, and it will add more gloss black finish touches on the grille and the wheels.
Also, the Sport trim is the most recognizable because of its Platinum White Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Radiant Red Metallic, and Sonic Gray Pearl colors.
More Luxury Inside
With three rows of seats, the 2024 Honda Odyssey Hybrid minivan will have enough room for up to eight people. Honda will make some adjustments for the 2024 model year, and we anticipate that a dated 8-inch touchscreen will be replaced with a new one that is 10.1 inches. You’ll also expect standard features like satellite radio, Bluetooth, two USB ports, Apple CarPlay, and seven speakers.
Odyssey offers a wide variety of driving aids, it is important to mention. It has an adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, and pedestrian recognition.
Will the Next-Gen Odyssey Offer a Hybrid or Even a Plug-in Option?
What happens next is still up in the air. The Insight, the Accord, and the CR-V are the only hybrids that are currently available for purchase. The current Honda Odyssey gets just 22 mpg on the highway, which is much less than the Toyota Sienna, which gets 36 mpg. The absence of an all-wheel-drive system is not good for the Odyssey. Even the Sienna continues to be available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options.
We do not yet know at this moment whether the next iteration of the Odyssey will share a platform with the Honda Pilot. Anyway, from what we know, it seems that the Odyssey will borrow the same engine as the Insight model. This means we can expect the combined output of the hybrid electric and combustion motor to be more than 150 horsepower. Each and every Insight has a Continuously Variable Gearbox (CVT) automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels.
2024 Honda Odyssey Hybrid Release Date and Price
Based on rumors, the new 2024 Honda Odyssey Hybrid might come out in the second half of 2023. We don’t know yet if a shortage of chips around the world will affect or delay the release of the car.
Considering that the base model starts at $37K, we expect the hybrid model to be around $42K. Keep checking back for updates as they come in.
