Honda has just announced the release of their latest SUV, the 2024 Honda ZR-V and the interest in the new model seems to be pretty high. The ZR-V will be a more affordable competitor to popular SUV models such as the Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, and Subaru Forester. It will hit the market sometime late in the year and for now, we know for sure it will be offered in Australia and Europe, but we could see it in other parts of the world as well, though not in North America.
This is a brand-new model and it will be slotted between HR-V and CR-V. Therefore, it will share most of the parts with the Civic, with the same chassis and suspension, as well as powertrain options. However, it will feature a slightly shorter wheelbase than the popular compact hatchback/sedan.
We expect to see it in Europe in the last quarter of the year, while the Australian-market version could arrive already next month.
2024 Honda ZR-V Design
The Honda ZR-V boasts a bold, sporty exterior design that is sure to turn heads. It features a sleek, aerodynamic profile, sculpted lines, and an aggressive front grille. The ZR-V also comes with stylish LED headlights, fog lights, and taillights that provide excellent visibility in all weather conditions.
Future rivals like Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, and Subaru Forester all have their unique design elements and look a little bit bolder. The RAV4 features a more rugged, muscular look, while the CX-5 has a more refined and elegant appearance. The Forester has a classic SUV design with a boxy body and rugged exterior features.
The Honda ZR-V comes with a well-tuned suspension that offers a comfortable ride while also providing excellent handling and stability. The ZR-V features a MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension, which work together to provide a smooth ride even on rough roads.
The Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, and Subaru Forester all feature similar suspension systems that provide a comfortable ride. However, the Honda ZR-V offers a more engaging driving experience, thanks to its responsive suspension and Civic’s DNA.
Inside, the 2024 Honda ZR-V is designed for both comfort and convenience. It comes with a spacious cabin that can comfortably seat up to five passengers. The ZR-V also features a high-quality infotainment system with a large touchscreen display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a premium audio system.
Inside, the Honda ZR-V offers plenty of space for passengers and cargo. The ZR-V features a total passenger volume of 105.9 cubic feet, with ample headroom and legroom in both the front and rear seats. The ZR-V also offers 27.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, which can expand to 60.6 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.
The Toyota RAV4 offers a slightly larger interior than the Honda ZR-V, with 105.7 cubic feet of passenger volume and 37.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. The Mazda CX-5 offers 103.6 cubic feet of passenger volume and 30.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. The Subaru Forester offers 111.9 cubic feet of passenger volume and 31.1 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats.
2024 Honda ZR-V Engine Options
Under the hood, the Honda ZR-V should with a choice of two powerful engines. The base model will feature a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque, while the real deal should come with the optional 2.0-liter turbo-four. The higher-end models will use this 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 252 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. Another important difference is that, while the base model will feature CVT, the optional turbo-four should come with a 10-speed automatic gearbox.
