The new eleventh generation of Civic has been around for a while and it instantly won our hearts with its amazing combination of style, quality and performance. The new Type R arrived as well and it is better than ever. Encouraged by the success of the new model, the Japanese manufacturer is reportedly planning some additional novelties in the near future. Among them, we can also find rumors about the 2024 Honda Civic Coupe.
The coupe version was discontinued in the previous generation and the current iteration is available only in hatchback and sedan body styles. This could change soon, as the company is seriously considering a comeback like this. According to some sources, the coupe version could be reserved for performance-oriented models, while others suggest its availability in more basic variants as well. In any case, we would be very happy to see this body style on offer again, even though the demand for it probably wouldn’t be too high.
2024 Honda Civic Coupe Design
So, one of the first things that come to mind is the overall design. Of course, the mechanical part wouldn’t bring any surprises. We would see the same chassis as in sedan and coupe models, which provides pretty engaging handling and a high level of overall athleticism.
On the other hand, we expect a lot in terms of aesthetics. Simply, the new generation is sleek and smooth, with a roofline that already resembles the coupe body style a lot. Therefore, we are pretty sure that the current design language in a combination with a coupe body style would be an ideal duo. The wheelbase would remain the same, while the notably shorter rear overhang would make the hood look even longer. We would expect to see a few more enhancements, in terms of exclusive details on the body kit, exclusive wheels etc.
Interior
Of course, the main difference on the inside would be the amount of passenger space. The access to the second row would be harder, while the headroom would be compromised by a sloping roofline. On the other hand, the legroom would remain similar, while we don’t believe that the cargo area could be significantly smaller either.
On the other hand, the dashboard would look the same. We would see the same combination of classic and modern elements, which look great in the new generation. Also, there is a generous offer of tech and safety features, while things like materials quality, attention to detail and overall build quality are also on a very high level. Of course, the coupe would probably come with a couple of exclusive details, whether it’s about materials, slightly different seats or something third.
2024 Honda Civic Coupe Engines
As we’ve just mentioned, it is still unclear in which variants the coupe body style would be offered. Some sources suggest that the coupe body style would be reserved for performance versions only. This means we would see it with the Si badge, which is currently available only in a sedan variant, with a 1.5-liter turbo-four engine, which puts out around 200 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque. Of course, it would fantastic to see the Type R in a coupe version as well, just like was the case with some previous generations. This is the most capable Civic available, equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo-four that puts out around 315 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. In both cases, the 2024 Honda Civic Coupe would be equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Other sources suggest that the coupe body style could be offered in more basic variants as well, with more basic engine options. For reference, the base model currently comes with the good-old 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated inline-four, which puts around 158 horsepower. Also, the 1.5-liter turbo-four is available in a less-potent variant compared to the Si, with around 180 horsepower.
Features
Of course, this aspect would heavily depend on the engine offer and trim level organization of the new 2024 Honda Civic Coupe. Therefore, we can only refer to the current organization, which includes a wide range of trim levels. Still, even the most basic versions are equipped pretty well, with goodies like a 7-inch touch screen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, a USB port, an eight-speaker stereo, automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, push-button start and remote start.
Also, there are upgrades like a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, 9-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, wireless device charging, HD Radio, satellite radio, a 12-speaker stereo, additional USB ports, dual-zone automatic climate control and a moonroof.
2024 Honda Civic Coupe Release Date and Price
We believe that the 2024 Honda Civic Coupe could arrive already by the end of this year. We presume it would cost a little bit more than the base sedan versions, which start at around 25.000 dollars.
