Although SUVs are taking over the market, there is still a decent number of people who prefer minivans. That’s why several manufacturers still have these super-practical vehicles in their portfolio, including Honda. The Odyssey has been a class leader for years but these days, rival models like Chrysler Pacifica and Toyota Sienna are more popular. One of the reasons may be the fact that these two rivals offer hybrid powertrains, while the Odyssey is still powered only by a V6 engine. That’s why many sources speculate about the 2024 Honda Odyssey AWD Hybrid, which would not be just electrified, but also with an all-wheel drive layout, something that Odyssey has been missing all these years.
At this point, the officials are still quiet, so it’s hard to say if this is really going to happen or not. Still, we are pretty sure that such a version wouldn’t bring bigger changes in terms of the overall design. The current generation still has a few good years, so most things in this model would remain the same.
2024 Honda Odyssey AWD Hybrid Powertrain
Of course, the most interesting aspect of this setup will be the powertrain. At this point, details are unavailable, while sources suggest two possible directions. One of them is to see a classic hybrid setup, where the system would probably be based on a familiar 2.0-liter inline-four, which would come with way more capable electric motors and a bigger battery, compared to those that power the CR-V, for example. In that way, Honda would offer an efficient solution without bringing up a price tag that’s significantly higher compared to the gasoline version. Moreover, it could be even cheaper.
The second scenario suggests a plug-in hybrid setup, which would bring significantly more power. Some sources suggest that this system would be based on a turbo-four engine and that the max output would easily go over 300 horsepower. Also, we would see a much bigger battery pack, as well as a respectable all-electric range. However, the main issue with such a version would be a significantly higher price tag.
In both cases, we would see a 2024 Honda Odyssey AWD Hybrid, which would feature electric motors on both axles, while the engine would most likely use a CVT.
2024 Honda Odyssey AWD Hybrid Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the current generation still has a couple of good years before it receives a full redesign. Therefore, the 2024 Honda Odyssey AWD Hybrid will continue with the same overall design, which was introduced in 2018. Of course, keep in mind the 2021 update as well, which brought a lot of styling updates, mainly to the front end, with new headlights, grille, bumper etc.
The hybrid version could come with a couple of minor styling tweaks but the overall looks will remain the same. Also, we expect to see pretty much the same chassis and suspension setup, which are pretty impressive, considering that we are talking about a minivan. The handling is quite engaging but, at the same time, the ride remains smooth and comfortable.
Interior
The same thing is with the 2024 Honda Odyssey AWD Hybrid interior. Of course, we could see a little bit modified instrument cluster, but the overall cabin layout would remain the same. That’s not a big issue, considering that the dashboard looks modern and attractive, while the materials are very nice. Also, there is a decent amount of tech and convenience features, as even the most basic versions are equipped pretty well.
The larger battery might have some effect on the total cabin space. Still, we don’t expect to see major changes in this aspect. The current model is very generous with passenger space, though there are some aspects in terms of functionality we don’t like. This particularly refers to the fact that the second row must be physically removed if you want to use maximum space.
Features
As we already mentioned, the current model comes with a lot of standards and available features and we don’t believe that the 2024 Honda Odyssey AWD Hybrid could bring bigger changes. For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, HD Radio, two USB ports, Bluetooth, a seven-speaker audio system, tri-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry and push-button start.
Among upgrades, expect to find things like a Wi-Fi hot spot, wireless device charging, navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system, an 11-speaker premium audio system and additional USB ports, as well as a universal garage-door opener, a 115-volt household-style power outlet, ambient interior LED lighting, a power liftgate, a hands-free power liftgate, a moonroof etc.

The 2024 Honda Odyssey AWD Hybrid could arrive already by the end of this year. The price will largely depend on the powertrain setup, but we presume it wouldn’t go over 40.000 in its base variant.
