The 2023 Honda Civic Hatchback is coming, and we can expect the 11th-generation to move into its second year with minor upgrades. In case you didn’t know, this model is available as both a sedan and a hatchback. For 2023Y, the biggest change is the return of the Civic Type R model.
Honda has teased the new car, and it looks amazing. However, the automaker hasn’t released exact specs for it, but we got some useful information. The design of the 2023 Honda Civic Hatchback is attractive thanks to refined body lines. Honda says the look of the new hatchback is boosted and is inspired by Sportback designs available in Europe.
The front end of this model dominates with attractive mesh grille, while very stylish headlights help Civic to emphasize the more planted stance. Two new paint colors are available on the hatchback versions: Boost Blue Pearl and Smokey Mauve Pearl.
Modern and Roomy Cabin
The interior of the new Honda Civic hatchback and sedan versions are very handsome. As before, layout remains unchanged, and the Civic sedan has a trunk volume of 14 cubic feet. However, the Civic hatchback has 24.5 cu ft behind its rear seat, while folding seats even open more cargo capacity. Like the sedan variant, the new Honda Civic hatchback comes with the standard 7-inch touchscreen or an optional 9-inch screen.
The system includes wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. However, going up to the Touring model, you’ll get a 10-inch digital gauge display, a 9-inch color touchscreen, and power front seats. This model also comes standard with a navigation system, leather-wrapped steering wheel, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, wireless smartphone charger, two rear USB charging points, and a Bose sound system with 12 speakers.
2023 Honda Civic Hatchback Engine Specs
In the engine department, we don’t expect any changes compared to the outgoing model at all. The current Civic is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder in the LX and Sport or a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder in the EX and Touring. Both engines are potent and the 2.0-liter puts out 158 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 138 lb-ft of torque at 4,200 rpm.
The turbo 1.5-liter engine is even more potent, and it delivers 180 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and a substantial 177 lb-ft of torque from 1,700 rpm to 4,500 rpm. It is worth mentioning that both engines come with a continuously variable automatic transmission. Unlike other models, the Sport and the Touring models get paddle shifters and three selectable drive modes including Eco, Normal, and Sport.
When Can I Buy the 2023 Honda Civic Hatchback?
At this point, there is no exact pricing and release date of the 2023 Honda Civic Hatchback. If we look at previous releases, we assume the new model could be introduced at the end of this year.
Pricing for the current Honda Civic hatchback begins at $23,350 for LX model, while Sport trim starts at $24,500.
