2024 Acura ZDX Electric: What We Know So Far

Honda started the process of electrification a little bit later than most other carmakers, so it is currently catching up with rivals. The same is with its luxury division, Acura, which is currently preparing its first all-electric vehicle. As you may presume, it will be a crossover, a compact one. The test mule has been spotted on the road a few times and although it still wears camouflage, it feels almost production ready, so we expect to see it in the second half of this year, as the 2024 Acura ZDX Electric.

As you may presume, Acura’s all-electric crossover will have a lot in common with Honda’s first all-electric crossover, called Prologue. The two models will share the chassis and benefit from the cooperation with GM, which will provide the battery and electric motors. In this particular case, a lot is expected to be shared with Cadillac Lyriq, especially when it comes to the powertrain.

So, the 2024 Acura ZDX Electric will be the brand’s first all-electric model on offer. At this point, the new model is in an advanced stage of testing and it’s been spotted on the road a few times. It still wears a camouflage, so it is hard to talk about the exact aesthetical approach at the moment. On the other hand, we can clearly see that the new model features pretty similar proportions to the Honda Prologue, another all-electric SUV that’s coming soon.

The two models will share many parts, but there’s no doubt that the ZDX will also come with a lot of its own, exclusive features. Of course, this primarily refers to the styling, but we also count on a more refined suspension setup, which would improve the overall ride quality. Moreover, we also expect to see the Type S version, which would come with further chassis and suspension upgrades, as well as a lot of exclusive styling details.

Interior

The 2024 Acura ZDX Electric Interior is still a mystery. Spy photographers didn’t manage to get any inside photos, so we can only speculate about the new cabin’s look. Still, we are pretty sure about one thing, the new interior definitely won’t look as futuristic as the Precision EV concept. Instead, we expect to see a more conservative design approach, closer to what we can see in ICE Acura models these days. On the other hand, there’s no doubt that the cabin will be full of modern tech features, such as a large infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone integration and a variety of advanced driver-assistance features.

This will be a compact crossover, with around 121 inches in wheelbase. So, there’s no doubt that the amount of passenger space will be generous in both rows. Of course, we count on two rows of seats, but a 2+2 seating configuration is possible.

2024 Acura ZDX Electric Powertrain and Battery

This aspect shouldn’t bring bigger surprises. As we already mentioned, most parts will be shared with the Cadillac Lyriq and that particularly refers to electric motors and batteries. Therefore, we expect base models to feature a single electric motor on the rear axle, with a max output of 340 horsepower. On the other hand, the Type S model will probably feature a dual-motor setup, with a max output of 500 horsepower.

Both models would be paired with a 102-kWh battery pack, with a max range that goes over 300 miles.
