2023 Honda Civic LX: The Entry-Level Civic is Coming Back!

Although initially discontinued for this model year, it looks like the Japanese manufacturer decided to bring back the most basic variant of the popular compact car. According to the latest reports, the 2023 Honda Civic LX will become available later this year and we probably won’t see bigger changes compared to the LX from 2022.

Although a pretty basic model, this Civic will still offer a lot of interesting things. Of course, there will be some things missing in terms of tech and convenience, but on the other hand, all genuine Civic features will be there, especially in terms of mechanics.

2023 Honda Civic LX Features

So, as we’ve just mentioned, we expect to see a comeback of the 2023 Honda Civic LX soon. From what we know so far, things won’t be significantly different compared to the last year’s model, so the list of standard equipment should be pretty similar.

One of the things that clearly says this is a base model is the set of 16-inch steel wheels. However, it’s great to know that things like LED headlights are standard. On the inside, you may count on automatic climate control, a 7-inch infotainment screen, a partially digital instrument cluster, Apple Car Play and Android Auto and push button start. Also, there is a pretty basic 4-speaker audio system.

Although the most basic variant on offer, this trim level comes with a long list of safety features. Some of the things that come standard are goodies like forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, driver attention monitor etc.

In terms of the overall design, you may count on a genuine Civic design. While some other carmakers spare on mechanics, this model is the same as higher trim levels when it comes to suspension setup, for example. You may count on a multi-ling rear suspension setup, which ensures a smooth and comfortable ride, along with pretty engaging handling.

In terms of styling, this basic version comes with a few compromises, particularly in terms of steel wheels. On the other hand, it’s good to know that LED headlights are standard. Of course, it’s also good to know that you may count on both body styles in this trim level, and choose between sedan and hatchback variants.

Interior

The same thing is with interior design. Of course, there is a basic cloth upholstery but on the other hand, the seats are well shaped, while the dashboard looks nice and features quality materials. This trim level includes a partially digital instrument cluster and comes with a smaller 7-inch touchscreen. Still, everything looks nice, and you probably wouldn’t say that this is a base trim level, by looking inside the cabin.

As we’ve just mentioned, there are both sedan and hatchback variants on offer. Both are very generous with space, thanks to the long wheelbase. So, the second row accommodates adults pretty easily, while the front seats are well-shaped and pretty comfortable. The cargo area in the sedan is good for about 15 cubic feet, while the hatch is way more generous and offers around 25.5 cubic feet.

2023 Honda Civic LX Engine

This is where things become obvious that we are talking about a basic trim level. This trim comes with a good-old 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated inline-four engine, which puts out around 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque, and comes coupled with a CVT.

Driving dynamics are decent enough, while you may also count on pretty decent fuel economy, which goes around 30 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway.

2023 Honda Civic LX Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2023 Honda Civic LX will arrive later this year, with a starting price of around $24.500 for the sedan and $25.500 for the hatchback body style.
