One of the most awaited pickup trucks is the 2023 Honda Ridgeline Type R. This high-performance variant has been rendered recently, and we must admit it looks pretty hot. Interestingly, the manufacturer regular model transformed into a more capable beast with a more aggressive look.
Finally, the Ford F-150 Raptor, Chevy Colorado ZR2, and the steroidal Ram 1500 TRX will get a real competitor. Many rumors indicate that the Type R will arrive next year, alongside the new generation of the Honda Ridgeline. However, plenty of information is missing, and we are still waiting for Honda`s official statement.
2023 Honda Ridgeline Type R Design
The new 2023 Honda Ridgeline Type R, if we can believe to renderings, looks much aggressive than the regular pickup truck. However, it’s still recognized on the front thanks to the massive black grille and attractive LED headlights. The Ridgeline Type R uses the same unibody construction as the regular model but it should fit a longer-travel independent suspension.
The renderings also reveal black fenders, fat rubber, a big red “H” badge on the front and rear, and flashy yellow paint. On the back, we also noticed more attractiveness. The new Honda Ridgeline Type R looks more stylish with the same bed, featuring a dual exhaust system and a more visible black bumper.
Interior Appearance
Inside, we can expect the 2023 Honda Ridgeline Type R to be more sporty than the regular one. The manufacturer will focus on bringing more supportive seats and plenty of quality materials. However, don’t expect the same technology advanced cabin as we saw on the new Ram 1500.
At least we presume that Honda will add the new infotainment system and more standard equipment to the Type R. Moreover, features like Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration should come standard, as the Honda Sensing set of safety features. The standard Honda Ridgeline includes hill start assist and the Intelligent Traction Dynamics System.
2023 Honda Ridgeline Type R Engine Specs
The Honda Ridgeline Type R will probably use the new engine. Unlike the regular model with a 3.5-liter V6 engine and produces 280 horses, the new one should provide much more output. There are plenty of rumors, and one says that it might use the same engine that will be retuned to feed at least 400 horses.
However, on the other hand, there is much information that Honda will introduce a completely new system, providing around 600 horses. If that happens, the new Ridgeline Type R can easily rival the current Ford Raptor model.
How Much Does the 2023 Honda Ridgeline Type R Cost?
At this point, we are still waiting for more information about the Honda Ridgeline Type R. Many believe that the new high-performance pickup will debut in the second half of the following year, while sales could start soon after.
Considering additional features and a more powerful engine, we believe that Type R could cost around $50,000. Obviously, it will be more expensive than the top Ridgeline trim Black Edition.
