Honda is gearing up to redesign its popular HR-V SUV for the following year. After great success with the outgoing generation, the restyled model, 2023 Honda HR-V, is underway. In order to challenge the segment’s best models, the manufacturer will make some serious upgrades. First of all, expect a more attractive design and plenty of standard equipment. Besides, a modernized cabin with advanced technology will also be part of the redesign.
However, the proven four-cylinder will for sure be under the hood of the new HR-V. However, in Europe, the HR-V will be powered by a hybrid powertrain that’s also available by choosing the Insight and Accord cars.
2023 Honda HR-V Redesign
The 2023 Honda HR-V is the smallest crossover that will be completely redesigned. According to the first available photos, the design of the HR-V will be drastically changed. It looks definitively more charming and modern than the current model. Anyway, we noticed a completely new front and rear fascia.
Unlike the previous generation, the new one comes with a distinctive front grille and a sharply sloped rear hatch. Also, newly shaped headlights are present as the taillights. Looking at the side profile, the HR-V rolls on the attractive 17-inch wheels. However, expect upper trims to offer larger wheels and better tires.
Cabin Upgrades
The new 2023 Honda HR-V will come with a more modern interior design and is clearly inspired by the latest generation of the Civic. Generally speaking, the cabin is both classic and attractive. Like many of the Honda models, the new HR-V will feature a new free-standing infotainment display and Honda’s novel Magic Seat.
The Magic Seat allows the rear bench to flip and fold, providing more storage if you didn’t know. Besides, all models will likely come standard with an Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The screen sits in the middle of the dashboard, and it’s larger than the 7.0-inch screen in the outgoing model. We also expect niceties such as onboard Wi-Fi, SiriusXM radio, and in-dash navigation.
2023 Honda HR-V Powertrain Specs
Our hope is that Honda will add some of the new engines. Anyway, many believe that the next-generation HR-V could use the same engine as the current Civic. That means we should expect a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces at least 158 horses.
In Europe, the HR-V will be most than likely powered by a hybrid powertrain borrowed from the Insight and Accord hybrid cars. This unit consists of a gas engine and electric motors. The whole system provides 151 horsepower and is very fuel-efficient. However, for transmission and other details, we must with for an official statement.
Release Date, Price
Honda didn’t provide any information about the exact release date of the 2023 HR-V model. However, many believe that it will happen sometime next year. As mentioned, the new SUV from the first photos looks fresh and is ready to compete with models in the same class, such as the Hyundai Kona, Kia Seltos, and the Mazda CX-30.
Moreover, the handsome redesign will make HR-V more expensive for sure. The current model starts at $22,000 for the basics variant, while more upper trims will raise a price significantly.
