Honda’s flagship minivan Odyssey is ready to receive some facelift. The new model will continue rivalry with Chrysler’s revised Pacifica and Toyota’s Sienna minivans. From what we heard, the 2022 Honda Odyssey is reportedly in the works and the manufacturer will try to make this minivan more competitive.
Literary, the exterior styling will be revised. Expect the upcoming minivan to receive a new face, better styling, and even more standard equipment. Unfortunately, like the current model, the forthcoming one will be powered by the same powertrain. However, we are assuming that it could provide better performances.
2022 Honda Odyssey Could Introduce a New Look
The forthcoming 2022 Honda Odyssey could get a new look, according to gossips. Generally, the current generation is refreshed and we can expect mild upgrades. The revised grille, sharper and better visible LED headlights, taillights are a must.
The current model also looks attractive, and it uses almost the same shaped LED headlights as models Civic and Accord. We also expect some extra chrome and gloss black trim on the new model. Moreover, rivals like Chrysler’s Pacifica just got an update, as the redesigned Toyota Sienna. However, we’re wondering what Honda can do more to be more competitive.
Interior Design
The interior changes of 2022 Honda Odyssey will be minimal. Basically, the manufacturer is aimed at making the Odyssey more upscale. Firstly, the standard trim level will include more features and better materials.
However, the top Elite models will be available with special leather seats, contrasting piping, and stitching. This trim should also sport tri-color floor mats, piano black trim, and revised climate controls. Honda also says that seats will be more comfortable, providing more joy on the longer trips.
Driver-Assistance Features
The safety of the 2022 Honda Odyssey should be better than before. Generally, even the base LX trim gets more features that were previously standard on all other models. The list includes driver airbag, passenger airbag, front head airbag, rear head airbag, front side airbag, brake assist, electronic stability control, daytime running lights, child safety locks, integrated turn signal mirrors, and traction control.
2022 Honda Odyssey Powertrain Specs
There would be no changes under the new 2022 Honda Odyssey. The same powertrain remains a 3.5-liter V-6 engine. However, we heard that some of the mechanical modifications could happen including more power.
The current model with the same engine provides 280 horsepower, while we can expect at least 300 horses on the restyled version. Like the current version, the new one would also use the same standard 10-speed automatic transmission. Generally, the Odyssey didn’t offer all-wheel-drive until now, but it might be provided optionally.
Release Date and Cost
The release date of the 2022 Honda Odyssey is still early to predict. Interestingly, some gossips indicate that the refreshed van will make its auto-show debut at the New York auto show in April next year.
However, we heard that Honda would introduce the next-gen model with plenty of improvements. That includes a new grille, sharper body, and a better interior. Pricing will be definitively slightly higher compared to the current model that starts at $32.000.
