2021 Acura MDX Hybrid – What’s New?
2021 Acura MDX Hybrid will introduce the AWD A-Spec version. Also, the premium crossover will provide an even more attractive design language, with a couple of additional packages. One of the available packages offers an Integrated Dynamic System, that allows sportier ride and handling.
But, the battery dries pretty fast with the Integrated Dynamic System. Furthermore, the MDX Hybrid includes the Dynamic System boost, which will launch the crossover from 0-60 mph in less than 6 seconds. Next, we’ve got the Sport Hybrid package, with an active dumper, and refined suspension system.
The Sport Hybrid adds a 12-speaker premium audio system and two wireless headphone sets. Furthermore, the hybrid version of MDX delivers improved active safety and the AcuraWatch suite. This safety suite consists of a forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist. The front side of the MDX Hybrid will boast with the brand-new pentagon grille.
Also, one of the most noticeable features of the front side will be the Jewel Eye LED headlights. On top of that, the additional roof rails will reinforce the look of the vehicle and overall design as well. The A-Spec variant adds exclusive front-fascia, glass-black accent, 20-inch wheels, and larger-diameter exhaust finishers.
Hybrid Powertrain
2021 Acura MDX Hybrid uses a 3.0-liter V6 petrol powertrain, in combination with an electric motor and two batteries mounted on each rear wheel. Furthermore, the Sport Hybrid delivers a smaller, but more powerful engine. The petrol-electric partnership produces a total output of 320 hp and 290 lb-ft of torque.
The fuel economy will be similar to the regular MDX, but with the boost, the crossover could return around 29, maybe 30 mpg. Well, this model is Acura, right? So, that means only one thing – the famous Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive system will be available. The SH-AWD allows much easier cornering, and far better driving experience.
Moreover, the SH-AWD sends the torque to each wheel directly, when more power is needed. Besides the MDX Hybrid, SH-AWD will be available on the RLX Hybrid and Acura NSX.
2021 Acura MDX Hybrid Release Date and Price
The arriving 2021 Acura MDX Hybrid will have a slightly higher starting price than the regular model. We expect that the hybrid version of the premium crossover will come with the price higher approximately $2,000 – $4,000.
Therefore, with the price of the ongoing model, and the estimated value of the additional packages, the MDX Hybrid could start around $60,000. Keep in mind though that more additional equipment could push the price close to $80K mark. The hybrid crossover will be available in the Q4 of 2020.
