2025 Honda Accord: New Transmission In Works?

The new, 11th generation of the iconic sedan has just been presented and it brings improvements in various aspects, so there is no doubt it will retain strong sales numbers, despite the current crossover mania on the market. However, it looks like this is not all we are about to see from this redesign. It looks like the Japanese manufacturer is preparing novelties for the following years as well. More precisely, the 2025 Honda Accord has been rumored to get further updates, particularly under the hood, where we could see a new transmission, or maybe even a new powertrain option.

On the other hand, the rest of the vehicle should remain the same. This sedan has so many great things to offer, so there is no doubt it will continue in the same way. It offers excellent build quality, a spacious cabin, a generous cargo area and a long list of standard and available equipment. Furthermore, the hybrid version is very efficient.

We expect that the 2025 Honda Accord will arrive sometime in the second half of 2024.

2025 Honda Accord Changes

As we’ve just mentioned, even though the current generation has just been updated, it looks like the Japanese manufacturer works on updates. Allegedly, we will see a new transmission in the base turbo-four engine, where the CVT would be replaced with a new 10-speed automatic, which would significantly improve the driving experience. On the other hand, the hybrid would continue with the same CVT.

Some sources also speculate about the new powertrain option. According to them, the company is willing to bring back the good-old 2.0-liter turbo-four, but in a new version, with even more power and torque. Allegedly, the new version would feature around 300 horsepower.

On the other hand, the current powertrain options will carry on. So, base models will continue with a 1.5-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 190 horsepower and has enough power for daily commuting. Also, there is the hybrid version, with a system that combines a 2.0-liter inline-four and two electric motors, for a combined output of 204 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque.

2025 Honda Accord Design

On the other hand, the overall design won’t change. Simply, the new generation is very fresh and we don’t expect changes in the following years. The 2025 Honda Accord will continue in the same layout, with a new design that looks more mature and more elegant than before. The new model is also bigger, which reflects in more passenger space.

Of course, the mechanical aspect is also new, though we didn’t see anything radical compared to the previous model. The ride quality is on a sweet spot, and offers a pretty high level of athleticism, in a combination with a smooth and comfortable ride.

Interior

On the inside, the new Accord embraces the company’s new design philosophy, which was already presented in models like the Civic and CR-V. The new dashboard combines classic design with modern elements, and also offers excellent build quality. The materials are really nice, while we also like that there is a good amount of tech and convenience features available.

The passenger space has always been the Accord’s thing and the new generation raises the pole even higher. Namely, the new model is the only mid-size sedan that offers more than 40 inches of legroom in the second row and it is notably more comfortable in this area than rivals like Camry. The front seats are also very spacious and comfortable, while we simply adore Accord’s driving position. Things are pretty similar in the cargo area, where this sedan offers 16.7 cubic feet of trunk space, which is also the highest rating in the class.

Features

We don’t believe that this aspect could bring more important changes in this aspect, though minor updates are always possible. The current model already stands pretty well in terms of standard equipment and comes with goodies like a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 7-inch infotainment screen. Still, the optional 12.3-inch infotainment screen is a much better choice, not only because of its size but because it also unlocks wireless smartphone integration and other connectivity features. Higher trim levels also offer a wireless smartphone charging pad, a 6.0-inch head-up display, and a 12-speaker Bose stereo system.

Of course, there is also a generous list of standard safety features, including automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring etc.

2025 Honda Accord Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2025 Honda Accord will come in the second half of 2024. The base model should cost around 28.500 dollars, while Toyota Camry will remain the key competitor.
