2024 Honda CR-V Rides on a New GM’s Global Electric Platform

The next-generation 2024 Honda CR-V will reportedly bring many changes based on spy photos we’ve seen. This model has been recently spied tested in Germany, and it looks a bit larger than before. Though it is still not quite as big as the Honda Pilot 3-row SUV, the Honda CR-V still provides excellent comfort for all passengers. More likely, a 3rd-row seat version will be offered this time as an option.

In case you didn’t know, this model is so far only sold as a two-row seater. We also got information that the next-generation would continue to use the same traditional gasoline engine that would be likely updated. Anyway, many believe hybrid and electric models will be available as well, considering the CR-V will ride on the GM’s global electric platform.

2024 Honda CR-V Redesign

The design of the new Honda CR-V is excellent, and just like the new Civic, the forthcoming SUV looks elegant and more restrained. First of all, it features a refreshed front and rear fascia and some new lines on the side.

The front end is adorned with a more attractive grille and the slimmer LED headlights with updated graphic. In general, the styling is overhaul, and it looks quite similar to the compact Civic model. As on the back, the design is a little more evolutionary. We immediately noticed that the rear is a little more tucked in and a little more contoured. The fastback vibe is present thanks to a shapely D-pillar and a heavily sloped rear glass.

Interior Changes

At this point, we don’t know anything regarding the interior of the upcoming 2024 Honda CR-V. We believe that the cabin will be similar to the HR-V, providing great quality and probably many advanced technologies.

Also, considering that the spied model is larger than its predecessor, we expect the 3-row model to be available at least as an option. As we said, the CR-V is a very comfortable model that’s so far offered with only 2-row of seats. Many speculations indicate that Honda will use the same infotainment system just like the one found in the Civic.

2024 Honda CR-V Engine Specs

Under the hood, the 2024 Honda CR-V will likely use a traditional gasoline engine. From information that’s available, the manufacturer will probably update the current 1.5-liter turbo 4-cylinder. This engine so far produced 190 horses and 179 lb-ft of torque.

Besides, we expect the new model to be also available as a hybrid and an electric vehicle. Power is routed through front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive optionally. Also, the CVT automatic transmission with a Sport mode is available in every CR-V. One of the weak points of the SUV is its low maximum towing capacity of only 1,500 pounds.
