Like its big brother MDX model, the RDX should receive the same Type S treatment in the following year. The new 2023 Acura RDX Type S will reportedly come with the same attractive design as the other models wearing the Type S suit. So far, the manufacturer has offered three models including MDX Type S, NSX Type S, and the TLX Type S.
If you didn’t know, the Type S models are designed to deliver an addictive performance-focused driving experience. All models come with large Brembo front brake calipers paired with upsized rotors, and with attractive NSX-inspired lightweight Y-spoke wheels wrapped in high-performance Pirelli tires. On top of that, RDX Type S will share the same engine with TLX Type S and the upcoming MDX Type S.
2023 Acura RDX Type S Exterior
The design language of the upcoming 2023 Acura RDX Type S will be eye-catchy as on the other Type S models. This model will wear recognized Tiger Eye Pearl premium paint finish and a very attractive front end with stylish Type S badging diamond grille.
The highlight of this SUV are definitively a new 21-inch alloy wheels wrapped in wide-performance tires. Also, as other Type S models, the RDX will come with the same quad exhaust outlets.
Cabin Features
On the inside, the 2023 Acura RDX Type S will be no less sporty than its bigger sibling MDX Type S. In general, we expect both to share the same sporty cabin. Engine Specs
As the TLX sedan, the new RDX Type S will most likely be powered by the same engine. So, expect the same 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged unit that produces 355 horsepower.
From the information we got, the new model will also be equipped with Acura’s torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system. This system is also known as the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive or SH-AWD by the Japanese brand. The engine will come with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Acceleration from 0-60 mph is expected to be around 5.7 seconds, just like the MDX Type S model.
When Can We Expect the 2023 Acura RDX Type S?
The new Acura MDX Type S is on the way, and we can expect it to arrive next month. However, as for the RDX Type S, it will be introduced sometime next year along with the regular variant.
Nevertheless, the manufacturer notes it plans to share more information about the Type S-badged SUVs in the coming months. The MDX Type S will reportedly start at $60,000, and we hope the RDX Type S will be more affordable.
