The forthcoming 2023 Acura MDX Type S is a three-row SUV that will look more aggressive than the regular variant. According to the latest news, this performance version of the Acura MDX should arrive next year at U.S. dealerships.
Acura has confirmed most of the specs, and we also got some of the fresh photos. At first glance, the upcoming SUV looks more eye-catching thanks to the new Tiger Eye Pearl exterior color. Unlike the regular model that uses a 3.5-liter V-6 engine, the Type S deploys a 3.0-liter V-6, producing 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. Compared to the base MDX, this is an increase of 65 hp and 87 pound-feet.
2023 Acura MDX Type S Redesign
The eye-catching 2023 Acura MDX Type S borrows plenty of elements from its TLX Type S sedan’s stablemate. As we can see from the new release photos, the upcoming performance SUV looks more aggressive, featuring a revised front fascia.
The fun fact is that manufacturer swapped narrow vertical corner vents for much larger irregular pentagons. We also like the design of the grille, much like at the rear that comes with a new lower fascia and diffuser. On top of that, Acura Type S deploys sporty quad exhaust tips and red Brembo brakes that are visible behind wheels.
Cabin Looks More Sporty
On the inside, the 2023 Acura MDX Type S is an SUV that looks modern and is very sporty. It features the same three rows of seats as the base model, and it can fit seven passengers. The two first rows are offering excellent legroom and headroom, but we cannot say the same for the third row. Unlike the regular model, the Type S comes with a more premium design crafted to engage the driver’s senses.
The interior is highly refined, and it features modern quilted-leather seating surfaces and massaging front seats, a 25-speaker Signature Edition ELS STUDIO 3D premium audio system, and the new infotainment system.
Engine Specs
Beneath the hood, the forthcoming 2023 Acura MDX Type S will come with the same turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 as the TLX. This engine is potent, and it can produce 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. Interestingly, this increases 65 hp and 87 pound-feet over the base MDX’s 3.5-liter V-6.
As such, we expect the Type S model to be significantly quicker. When equipped with an optional towing package, the latest MDX Type S has ability to tow up to 5000 pounds. It comes standard with a ten-speed automatic transmission and SH-AWD.
