2022 Honda Clarity Finally Looks More Futuristic

After discontinuing the Clarity EV model last year, Honda recently reveals that it is working on the refreshed fuel-cell and plug-in hybrid models for 2022. The new 2022 Honda Clarity mid-size family sedan will bring some small refreshments regarding its look, and we should expect a more modern cabin.

Generally, Clarity’s fuel efficiency is beyond reproach. Powered by the plug-in-hybrid system, it offers up to 48 miles of electric-only driving, which is excellent. However, if you’re living in California, you can get a hydrogen fuel-cell model and pick up credit of $15,000 for fuel. According to Honda, the hydrogen fuel-cell model fully tanked, can travel 360 miles.

Finally, the new 2022 Honda Clarity adopts contemporary styling, providing a more futuristic look. As you can see, the new sedan looks refreshed, and it still blends a bevy of angles, curves, and unique details that makes it unique. Depending on the chosen trim, the design will vary, but not drastically.

However, both models PHEV and Fuel Cell, offer aluminum-alloy wheels, attractive fastback roofline, and unusual rear shapes. Overall, the design is eye-catchy, and the styling reminds us of other modern Honda models. Generally, the front is most dominated, thanks to the massive boomerang-shaped light treatments.

Modern Interior

The forthcoming 2022 Honda Clarity will keep the same modern cabin. Of course, Honda will add more premium materials and some of the new techs. Compared to the Accord model, further Clarity has a significantly shorter wheelbase. That means we can expect nearly four inches less legroom. Trunk capacity is 12 cubic feet in the fuel-cell car, while around 16 cubic feet can be found in the plug-in hybrid model.

Like before, we should expect the same 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment interface as standard, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. However, more options offer a Touring version like factory navigation, better audio system, and more driving assistance technology.

2022 Honda Clarity Offers Two Engine Options

As we mentioned, the EV Clarity model has gone, and the new one should be offered with the plug-in hybrid or fuel cell systems. Clarity plug-in hybrid is motivated by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder producing 181-hp paired with an electric motor and 17.0-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Combined, this model delivers an output of 212 horsepower. It also runs from 0 to 60 mph in 7.7 seconds. The current Clarity plug-in hybrid is EPA-estimated 340 miles when both gas and electric power sources are in play.

As for the hydrogen-powered Clarity, this model offers a 174-hp electric motor that draws electricity from a fuel cell. Unlike the PHEV model, the hydrogen-powered sedan runs to 60 mph in 8.1 seconds, providing a mileage of 360 miles.
