Honda has released a new set of images of the 20th Anniversary 2021 Honda S2000 prototype. This model has been introduced at the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon and it gains too much attention. From numerous reports, the latest Honda S2000 has been ready for mass production and it may arrive at the end of this year. However, due to the situation with the pandemic Covid -19, the entire industry has been affected and there is no official date of a comeback.

The changes on the latest S2000 are evident and the new model will receive numerous updates from the images. On top of that, this roadster may use the same powertrain as the Civic Type R.

2021 Honda S2000 First Look

The showed prototype 2021 Honda S2000 reveals numerous refreshments compared to the original model. Still, we can see the same design shape and dimension. According to the images, the new generation looks more attractive than before.

The refreshed-look is present, and the manufacturer modernized its bumper, side sills, fenders, and it adds spoiler on the back for better airflow. The side profile also reveals many changes and the new roadster is riding on the 17-inch Advan RZ2 wheels. On the back, the better-shaped taillights are present as the chromed dual-sport exhaust system.

Interior Look

Inside, the upcoming 2021 Honda S2000 will be modern and unique. The manufacturer will use many techs from the Civic Type R model. So, expect a cabin to be slightly different from the original S2000. As we mentioned, Honda has released some images of the 20th Anniversary 2021 Honda S2000 prototype at the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon.

At first glance, we can see the almost identical interior as in Civic Type R. In addition, this model comes with a large 7-inch touch-screen infotainment system and the new 12-speaker premium audio system. Obviously, the upcoming model will be compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Safety Technology

The safety of this model will be improved for sure. However, at this moment, the manufacturer didn’t release any information regarding this department. We assume that the list of safety features will be longer than before. This may include stability Control, Traction Control, Rear View Camera, and much more.

2021 Honda S2000 Powertrain

Firstly, there is no available information about powertrain under the hood of 2021 Honda S2000. This small roadster back in ‘99 has used a 2.0-liter engine that produces 247 hp and 161 lb-ft of torque. However, according to many speculations, the newly revived Honda S2000 will use the same powertrain as the famous Civic Type R model.

If this is accurate, this model will come with mighty 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 developing 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The front-wheel-drive system is the only option of this roadster. Besides, the S2000 may use the same mechanics and also the same 6-speed manual with driver-selectable rev-matching as the Civic Type R.

Price and Release Date

The comeback of the 2021 Honda S2000 will definitively happen soon. According to many reports, this model will arrive later this year. However, due to pandemic Covid-19, the entire industry has been affected. So, the release date may be postponed for the next year.

As for the price, it is not available at this moment. The famous automaker is keeping all secretly. However, if rumors are true, the new 2021 Honda S2000 will cost almost the same as its sibling Civic Type R. If you didn’t know, this model starts at $37,000.
