Honda has just announced that the new 2021 Honda Freed is coming. According to the manufacturer, the upcoming minivan should be available in Japan in October.
From what we heard, there is a possibility that Honda introduces a new Crosstar trim variant. However, as before, under the hood, there should be the same two versions. A 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline unit powers the base model, will the next one is using a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle hybrid powertrain.
2021 Honda Freed Facelift
The latest 2021 Honda Freed is a compact minivan that looks attractive and modern. This model is sold in Japan and in other Asian markets. The highlight of the 2021 Freed lineup is the new trim called Crosstar that offers crossover-styling. This model features unique styling thanks to the new grille and as well as revised bonnet. Also, it features black plastic cladding on the side skirts.
However, on the base model, we can see some modification of the front bumper and it now hosts refreshed lower grille. 2021 Honda Freed Powertrain Specs
The new 2021 Honda Freed beside great design provides potent engines. Basically, this model host the same powertrain as its predecessor. There are two engines available and both ones provide not so good output. The manufacturer used a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline unit that produces 129 PS (127 HP). This mill is used under the base model.
The next powertrain uses a hybrid system. Like the current model, the new Freed consists of a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle hybrid powertrain that makes combined 110 PS (108 HP). The battery of the hybrid model is under the floor and thanks to that, it shouldn’t cut interior space at all. Besides, the base model is paired with CVT, while optional hybrid works with a 7-speed DCT. Both units come standard with FWD, while AWD can get optionally.
Release Date and Price
The release date of 2021 Honda Freed will happen this year. According to the company, this model will be firstly available in Japan. From what we heard, the base model could start from 1,997,600 yen, which is ($18,420) for the base six-seater model powered by the 1.5-liter gasoline engine.
