2023 Honda HR-V Hybrid: What We Know So Far

The new 2023 Honda HR-V Hybrid will reportedly arrive next year, sharing the same platform with the Civic model. As you probably know, Honda has given the HR-V a complete makeover, and since then, the rumors about the hybrid variant have been flying around.

Moreover, in Europe, the Honda HR-V is powered by a hybrid powertrain, the same we saw in the Insight and Accord models. However, the current version uses a traditional gasoline 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 158 horsepower. So, if rumors prove to be accurate, the Honda HR-V U.S. version could deploy the same engine as the European one.

2023 Honda HR-V Hybrid Design

First and foremost, look for the 2023 Honda HR-V Hybrid will not significantly change compared to the original one at all. The hybrid version could come with a more upright shape and blunter front end. As we said, the forthcoming HR-V is sharing the same platform with the Civic model.

The platform is stiff, and it can hold a large battery. Compared to the outgoing generation, the new one looks wider and longer, which will probably have benefits inside. Independent rear suspension is used, and it replaces the old torsion beam setup. Thanks to that, the new HR-V promises improved ride-and-handling.

Interior Changes

We don’t know what will be changed inside the Honda HR-V Hybrid compared to the EU model. Probably, the manufacturer will add more quality materials, while everything else could remain the same. The current EU hybrid model is equipped with a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

It’s also offering the wireless connectivity for those features. In general, there is very large list of standard and optional features. With the EX-L trim, buyers will get a wireless smartphone charging pad, and also features such as SiriusXM satellite radio, in-dash navigation, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.

2023 Honda HR-V Hybrid Motor Specs

As we said, it seems that the 2023 Honda HR-V Hybrid that’s available on the Europe market could also reach U.S. shores. So, alongside the current gasoline 2.0-liter four-cylinder that’s good for 158 horsepower, we might also see a full-hybrid model. Under the bonnet of the HR-V Europe is a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired with two electric motors. Thanks to that, the hybrid model creates a combined 131hp.

The same engine is also seen on the latest Jazz model as well. The battery pack size has also been increased, and the manufacturer claim that with a full tank, this SUV can deliver up to 459 miles. However, the performance isn’t the point of the HR-V, considering that it runs from 0-60mph in 10.6 seconds.
