2023 Honda BR-V First Look at the Smallest Seven Seater Subcompact Crossover

The 2023 Honda BR-V is an upcoming crossover that will debut next year. As you probably know, the BR-V is a trendy model in Asia countries, and its name is an acronym for “Bold Runabout Vehicle.” The first generation was launched in 2015, and since then, sales figures of this model have been growing every year.

This crossover is more affordable than the better-known HR-V, and it offers three-row seating. Honda hasn’t revealed anything on the second generation, but we are sure that the newbie will ride on the scratched platform. However, compared to other rivals, the BR-V isn’t the prettiest subcompact crossover.

2023 Honda BR-V Facelift

The design of the upcoming 2023 Honda BR-V has been refreshed, and the new crossover looks much better than ever. The platform has been changed for the second generation, but we still don’t know if this model will use some mechanicals from the Mobilio minivan. Looking at this model on the front, you’ll first notice many similarities with the HR-V model.

First of all, both ones share the same grille and headlights. However, the BR-V features more chrome around the grille, which is somehow smaller compared to HRVs. To be honest, it doesn’t look so good behind. It features odd taillights, and it has a smaller bumper than before.

Cabin Features

The forthcoming 2023 Honda BR-V will look much more modern inside. This compact crossover is one of the rarest, offering three rows of seats and not enough room to fit seven passengers. On the back, there’s only room for small kids. On the other side, we expect this model to offer more standard features than before and a much larger infotainment system.

Also, from what we heard, the new model will arrive with an array of Honda Sensing suite of systems, including lane-keeping assistant, collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise control, and road departure mitigation. Also, not to forget blind-spot monitoring and a lead car departure notification system.

2023 Honda BR-V Powertrain Specs

The new 2023 Honda BR-V will be power by a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter i-VTEC gasoline engine that’s capable of producing 120 hp at 6,600 rpm and 107 lb-ft (145 Nm) of torque from 4,300 rpm.

According to Honda, power is routed to the front wheels through a CVT, which is new and more efficient than the previous six-speed automatic. Besides this engine, we also expect Honda to offer at least one option to stay competitive.

Release Date and Price

The debut of the 2023 Honda BR-V will probably happen sometime next year. Many believe that this model will be introduced at some of the upcoming events. However, considering that Covid-19 is still among us, there is a huge possibility to be delayed. As mentioned, the second generation Honda BR-V will arrive with many upgrades, especially inside. In general, we don’t expect some huge price increase compared to the first generation.

So, it will probably carry a starting price of around $18,000 at current exchange rates. Since its launch, the BR-V was sold in 255,000 copies. It’s also worth noting the HR-V and BR-V are not the only Honda subcompact crossovers. The manufacturer is also selling the smaller WR-V in South America.
