After confirmation about the comeback of the new Acura Integra, we have just got some news of the high-performance variant called the 2023 Acura Integra Type R. The forthcoming model will reportedly receive the same treatment as the recently spied Honda Civic Type R. We also expect it to offer the same sporty styling inside and probably to use the same engine as well.
The upcoming Type R Civic is available with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder generating 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. However, so far, we don’t know whether this engine will use a standard manual transmission or a dual-clutch automatic to match other performance models.
2023 Acura Integra Type R Exterior
At this point, there is no available image of the rumored 2023 Acura Integra Type R. In general, we expect it to receive the same sporty look as the Civic Type R. The spy shots of the upcoming Civic reveals smoother flared wheel arches, fewer body lines, lower-profile rear wing support, and a smaller bonnet vent.
As you can see, typical Type R design cues are retained. However, on the Integra, we expect more tweaks. Many believe that it will come with a large rear wing, aggressive front air intakes, sporty rear diffuser and side skirts. Although, we don’t expect it to receive the same center-mounted exhaust tips as the Civic.
Inside, the 2023 Acura Integra Type R will be no less attractive than the Civic Type R. Generally speaking, both models will offer the same sporty cabin with many optional amenities. We presume the Acura Integra Type R to offer more comfort than Civic, as well as more technology and quality materials.
Inside, we should expect at least a sizeable central touchscreen of 9.0-inch, and 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster as on the latest Civic. However, considering all above, Honda might also add some sporty tweaks to stand up with Integra on the market. Many believe that it will get a new flat-bottomed steering wheel and some red or faux carbon-fiber trim bits.
2023 Acura Integra Type R Powertrain Rumors
At this point, there are only rumors about the engine of the 2023 Acura Integra Type R. The first one is that it will use the same powertrain as the upcoming 2023 Honda Civic Type R. If you didn’t know, the manufacturer confirmed a more powerful turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that will power the next Civic.
Unlike before, we should expect it to generate more output, around 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Right now, we don’t have information on whether this engine will be available with a standard manual transmission, or it will use a dual-clutch automatic.
Release Date, Price
Unfortunately, this model is not yet official. On the other hand, the regular model has been confirmed, and we can expect it to arrive sometime next year.
The price will reportedly start at less than $40,000 for the base model. Nevertheless, wearing the Type R treatment, the price will significantly rise. We expect Type R to start at around $55,000 for a model with a standard equipment.
