2022 Acura RDX Changes, Release Date, Specs

The new-generation 2022 Acura RDX is officially confirmed for the next year. This premium compact crossover is very popular because it offers plenty of standard equipment for a reasonable price.

However, the new spy photos confirmed claims that there are no major changes compared to the predecessor in terms of design. Believe it or not, we heard that the manufacturer would most likely use the same 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged unit capable of delivering 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, plenty of gossips circulating around that we might also see some electrification.

2022 Acura RDX First Look

The new 2022 Acura RDX has been finally spotted testing. At first look, this model featuring the same proportion as the predecessor. However, consider that the tested mule is heavily camouflaged, we noticed some mild refreshments. First of all, the upcoming model is not too boxy, but it still keeps the same sporty appearance.

Like before, there should be plenty of customizations. The A-Spec package is available as well, bringing more darker elements and replacing the standard 19-inch alloy wheels with 20-inch rims. Basically, for super handling and better grip, buyers can add an optional all-wheel-drive system, also called “SH-AWD.”

Standard Equipments

Like the exterior, we think that there will be no significant changes inside. The current Acura RDX is still fresh, and the new model will probably gain mild refreshments. Like before, the best-selling luxury SUV should offer the same layout inside, including three rows of seats and plenty of room for all passengers. The front seats are made of quality materials, providing average support. On top of that, passengers on the back will get more legroom and headroom than before. There are 29.5 cubic feet behind the rear seats that can be double to 58.9 cubic feet folding them.

As we mentioned, the RDX model comes with more standard features than you can imagine. The base model includes a 10.2-inch infotainment display, dual-zone automatic climate control, satellite radio, 9-speaker/350-watt premium audio system, ambient cabin lighting, Wi-Fi, Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, and plenty of AcuraWatch safety features.

2022 Acura RDX Engine

The new generation 2022 Acura RDX will most likely use the same engine as the current one. Moreover, from some rumors, we might also see some electrification. The current SUV uses a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged unit capable of delivering 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. It also comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission that sends power through the front wheels.

However, if you need more than that, you can always upgrade to all four (AWD) with Acura’s Super Handling system. Thanks to this engine and great arrangement, the Acura RDX towing capacity is 1,500 pounds. Compared to models in the same segment, RDX is at the bottom of the list, which is not so good for such a popular SUV.

  1. Hello,
I have looked at the 2021 RDX several times recently and I’m planning to buy a 2022 when available. If you have a direct connection with Acura and can relay this I would like to see them add more color to the instrument cluster which is pretty much just boring white lighting. Needs more excitement! Same with the ambient lighting that is white. That could be a cobalt blue or a soft orange or green. These are two minor changes that would really improve the interior ambiance of this car.
    Thanks So Much!
