The famous Japanese manufacturer has just introduced an updated version of the 2021 Honda XR-V. This five-seat SUV is sitting on the same platform as the popular HR-Vs, and it provides a more muscular look than before.
From what we heard, XR-V will be available in some international markets, including China. A new 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four engine will power it, and just like the new HR-V, the XR-V no longer ships with the 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine.
2021 Honda XR-V Exterior Redesign
The new 2021 Honda XR-V is exclusively made for the Chinese market. With this release, Honda opens new entrances in the booming compact SUV segment. Generally, Honda XR-V looks almost the same as the HR-V model. It shares the same alloy wheel design and some small cosmetic bits on the front and rear.
However, at the back, the manufacturer used a new unique tail-lamps that are running across its width. The same taillights we saw on the recently introduced Honda CR-V. It also features a dual-tone bumper at the back. Other visible changes include a restyled radiator grille, tweaked bumpers both front and rear, LED headlights, and a wider body color palette. This year, buyers can choose colors like Dazzling Gold and Silver, Tannin Blue, Cristal Black, Amber Orange, White, Bordeaux Red, and perhaps the most eye-catching shining yellow.
Interior Updates
The cabin of the forthcoming Honda XR-V will pretty much remain the same as before. However, some small updates might happen, and we can expect more comfort. From the latest information, Honda will use more upscale materials and will add a new larger 8-inch multimedia display.
Everything inside except that should remain the same. Like the current model, the new one offers the same standard equipment. It comes with climate control, panoramic glass roof, keyless start-and-go, and engine start/stops function. Honda sensing system comes standard, and it includes active cruise control, lane departure warning system, pre-collision warning system, braking assist, and lane-keeping assist system.
2021 Honda XR-V Under the Hood
The latest 2021 Honda XR-V will finally come with a new engine. As we mentioned, just like the new HR-V, the Chinese XR-V will no longer be offered with an aging 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine rated at 136 hp. According to Honda, the new Honda XR-V features a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four engine as a replacement. The entry-level model produces a 131-hp (98-kW) engine, while the more potent optional makes a respectable 177 hp (132 kW) along with 220 Nm (162 lb-ft) of torque. Like before, there would be two transmission choices six-speed manual and CVT.
Release Date and Price
The new 2021 Honda XR-V looks refreshed, and it provides a much more spacious and better cabin. This model also comes with a new engine, and it delivers more output than the predecessor. However, we are eagerly waiting for more official news regarding its price and debut. Most likely that Honda will fully introduce this model later this year, while sales might begin in the first quarter of 2021.
