2020 Honda S660 Adds A Couple of Updates

Honda showcased the lightly-updated version of 2020 S660 at the recently held Tokyo Auto Salon. For the 2020MY, both regular and the Modulo X variant of the tiny two-seater kei car gets subtle styling improvements, and revised equipment as well. The refined S660 was shown at the Honda Access’s stand only because of the innovative line of aftermarket products includes all ranges, performance, styling, etc.

Back in 2016, the Japanese company revealed a small roadster with two seats, named S660. The new vehicle was a beautiful mixture between an NSX and S2000 models. Of course, a miniaturized combination of these to cars. Also, the design draw inspiration from the early ’90s Beat convertible. You remember that cute little car, don’t you?

Now, the 2020 version of the two-seater combines all of the previous designs in one fun and capable package. However, at the moment, the S660 will be available only in Japan. There have been some rumors regarding the possible US market launch, but that is still in the “speculations” domain.

As for the exterior design, the A-pillars are painted in the same color as the rest of the body. Before this cosmetic update, the A-pillars were all black. Also, 2020 S660 brings the brand-new aluminum wheel design. Moreover, Active Green Pearl color is added to the color palette.

Besides, the kei car gets a more subtle design touches, like the black logos, and S660-badged aluminum fuel filler cap. 2020 updated version adds vertical LED DRLs in the front bumper, smoked headlights/taillights, and a refined front grille. The cabin provides improved comfort, with the addition of heated seats and an Alcantara trim on the wheel.

Also, the shift knob skin and brand-new leather accents will even further enhance the cabin styling. The top-ranking version, Modulo X gets minor updates as well. You can expect a new Carnival Yellow II color, a black variant of the current alloy wheel model, and black mirror caps. Also, Alcantara covered steering wheel, with Bordeaux accents are the new feature. The regular S660 comes with an all-black cabin.

Engine Specs and Price

Under the hood of 2020 Honda S660, nothing changes too dramatically. Considering the engine, this model is already at the top limit of the kei cars. So, further improvements are not necessary. So, you’ll find a 0.66-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine.

This powertrain produces 63 hp and 77 lb-ft of torque. The engine is positioned behind the driver. It is connected to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT, which goes through the rear wheels. Despite the small engine, the new S660 is very agile and fun to drive. Also, the steering is sharp enough to support the sporty driving through the available Sport Mode.

The regular two-seater S660 comes with a starting price of 2,031,700 yen (around $18,500). On the other hand, the Modulo X version will cost 3,042,600 yen ($27,700). For now, this vehicle will only be available for the Japanese market.
