Not long ago Honda redesigned the supermini subcompact Fit model. But, it looks like that the 2020 Honda Fit Turbo will include even more changes than the previous version. The Fit is indeed a unique vehicle. Unlike the most class-buddies, this car manages to offer a capable platform and two very efficient engines.

The ongoing model is based on the identical platform as the Honda City. However, according to the latest reports, the upcoming 2020 Honda Fit Turbo will get a brand-new platform. The architecture will probably use a new modular chassis, borrowed from the Civic.
Moreover, the platform will apply a lower center of gravity, and it will be built out of high strength steel. As a result, the vehicle will weigh less, and the structural rigidity will be much better. Not to mention the NVH level. They will be better as well. Also, new Fit may include different running gear.
One of the possibilities is the independent rear end. If that comes to pass, it will uplift the way the vehicle drives, without any serious drawbacks. On top of that, the wheelbase might increase as well, and the track width should follow that pattern.

2020 Honda Fit Specs
Under the hood of entry-level 2020 Honda Fit Turbo will be the same 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine as before. This unit is capable to produce 130 hp and 114 lb-ft of torque. That is more than enough power for this class to make most of the potential customers satisfied.
But, if you want more Honda will include yet another drivetrain. The second option will be the company’s brand-new 1.0-liter turbocharged mill, which will make from 110- to 130 hp. Although it is still pretty similar to the larger engine, the second one should provide better fuel efficiency. Nevertheless, we must wait for more the official announcement to see more details about these units.
Also, the company will probably develop hybrid powertrain as well. In that case, a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder unit will work with two electric motors and a lithium-ion battery. The standard transmission will be electronically controlled continuously variable transmission.
Release Date and Price
The release date of 2020 Fit Turbo is still unknown. But, we expect that the new model will be ready for the dealerships before the end of the following year. The perfect stage for a debut may be the 2020 Tokyo Motor Show.
The price of the arriving model is unknown as well. Taking into account that the current Fit has an MSRP of $16,000, we assume that the 2020 model comes with a similar price. However, keep in mind that the additional equipment will raise the price significantly. One of the main rivals will be the Nissan Versa.
