2020 Acura MDX Interior, Sport Hybrid

The upcoming 2020 Acura MDX is a reliable 3-row mid-size SUV with an outstanding amount of luxurious details and superior resale record. Besides, when it comes to Japanese vehicles, we all expect excellent safety features. With the AcuraWatch suite of standard active-safety and driver assists, this model shines in that area as well. Although it may not be as attractive as Audi Q7, BMW X5, or Mercedes-Benz GLE, the starting price of 2020 MDX undercuts the competition by a notable margin.

Furthermore, the customers can get a performance-oriented A-Spec version, with a remarkable Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive system. On top of that, the MDX Sport Hybrid model is available as well. 2020 Acura MDX delivers the right balance of comfort, a roomy cabin, and driving qualities that will satisfy most of its users.

Exterior Design

2020 Acura MDX comes over mostly unchanged. Therefore, expect an excellent balance of sophisticated look and sturdy but efficient design. The top-of-the-line SUV from the Japanese company comes with a prominent diamond-pentagon grille, and beautiful Jewel Eye LED headlights.

Also, roof rails will improve the vehicles’ silhouette and increase the practical side of the exterior even further. The 2020 MDX offers the Hybrid version as well. But, it won’t deliver significant design updates either. However, the sportier A-Spec will bring 20-inch wheels, half-inch wider than you’ll get on the regular model.

On top of that, A-Spec carries unique front fascia design, larger-diameter exhaust finishers, and gloss-black accents. A Power Moonroof is available for all versions, as well as Remote-Linked Power-Operated Tailgate. The Rear Doors Smart Key Entry comes as standard in all packages, and an optional feature for the base model.

2020 Acura MDX Interior

2020 Acura MDX offers a 7-passenger setup, with optional 2-row captain’s chair that reduces that number to six. As in most vehicles from this class, the rearmost seat is not very good for adults or long journeys. But, the kids will love it. The MDX includes 15.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row. A 60/40 Split Folding 2nd-Row Seats is available in all versions except with Advance Package. Instead, this package offers a 40/40 Split Folding 2nd-Row Seats feature.

Moreover, even the Sport hybrid model does not sacrifice space for battery placement and other components. The multi-adjustable power front seats are standard for all MDX versions, while the driver’s seat will be able to move back as you step out of the vehicle. Still, the company could change the split-level infotainment system to be more intuitive. We suggest that instead of touchscreen and rugged button controls, a simple rotary knob would fit much better.

Engine Specs

Under the bonnet of 2020 Acura MDX will be a powerful 3.5-liter V6 unit capable of cracking up to 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. The standard configuration will be the front-wheel-drive with Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) as an optional setup. The SH-AWD improves handling on dry pavement and increases the SUVs’ ability to navigate in off-road situations or snow/rain weather.

Furthermore, the SH-AWD keeps the power on front wheels during the standard drive, but it can redirect torque to the rear wheels during powerful acceleration. The V6 powertrain is linked to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The maximum towing capacity is 3,5000 pounds for the FWD model.

On the other hand, AWD Acura MDX tow up to 5,000 pounds. The city/highway fuel economy ratings are 20/27 mpg (FWD), 19/26 mpg (AWD).

2020 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid

2020 Acura MDX Sport Hybrid joins a 3.0-liter V6 engine and electric motor for a total output of 321 hp and 289 lb-ft of combined twist. This setup works perfectly. As a result, the hybrid is more efficient and comes with improved acceleration. This combination is connected to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, developed from the NSX supercar’s 9-speed transmission.

In the rear of the hybrid MDX, you’ll find two electric motors, one for each wheel. The estimated fuel economy is 26/27 mpg. As for the styling, the Sport Hybrid offers additional Technology Package with navigation, perforated leather seats, and a 10-speaker ELS premium sound system. Also, the 20-inch wheels and an AcuraWatch suite of standard active-safety and driver assists are included as well.
