The new-generation 2022 Honda Civic Type R is expected to be introduced next year as a 2022 model. Interestingly, the upcoming model is spied testing for the second time this year and spy shots reveal plenty of upgrades.
According to multiple reports, the next-gen Civic Type R should arrive at the same time alongside the regular model. The high-performance version will feature a lightened and stiffened body alongside a specially tuned engine that provides more power.

The first spy shots are available and from them, the latest Honda Civic Type R is wearing heavy camo. However, some of the updated parts are clearly visible and this model looks more aggressive than the regular one. Obviously, at first glance, the Honda Civic Type R provides a similar styling as the current generation. Although, we can see some changes that catching our eyes as the wedge-like shape that is somehow softened.
The rear wing also appears smaller and thanks to that, it provides a sophisticated look. All lights are new and are using advanced LED technology. We can also see some sort of opening in the center of the rear fascia that’s likely for mounting of the exhaust tips. Obviously, the single exhaust tip that has been seen on this camouflaged model is only a temporary unit.
First Look Inside
Like the exterior, the interior of 2022 Honda Civic Type R is also hidden. Furthermore, we have only one image that indicates what is going on inside. Firstly, both the steering wheel and dashboard design are new and designers choosing a detached screen mounted at the top of the center stack.
The infotainment unit looks that it is around 10 inches and it is definitively a better solution than an integrated unit like in the current generation. According to many gossips, the new model might also use the new digital dash, similar to the Audi Q8 RS. Whatsoever, buyers can for sure expect exceptional comfort and plenty of better techs than the previous gen.

A 6-speed manual and front-wheel drive will likely be standard on the new Civic Type R. Moreover, some form of electrification is also a possibility.
