The new version of the 2022 Honda Accord Sport Special Edition is coming, and is bringing more sporty styling. Generally, the new Sport Special Edition offers some extra luxury features compared to the regular Sport model. It includes leather seat trim, heating for the mirrors and front seats, keyless entry, and remote engine start.
However, Sport and Sport Special Edition don’t bring any performance boost. The base setup is still a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 producing 192-horsepower, while a more powerful and optionally 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 generates 252 hp. Also, hybrid version is available as well, delivering best in class fuel economy. According to Honda, Special Edition will arrive later this year as the 2022 model.
2022 Honda Accord Sport Special Edition Design
The 2022 Honda Accord Sport Special Edition exterior design will be more attractive than any trim level. Dimensionally, this mid-size sedan comes with a wheelbase of 111.4 in, length 196.1 in, and a width of73.3 in. As you can see, Accord is very compact, and it uses the same platform as its predecessor.
However, as we mentioned, it looks attractive, and it features all of the Sport grade goodies. Compared to a regular one, the most noticeable features of the Accord Sport Special Edition are the dark chrome finish on the grille and exhaust tips, better 19-inch wheels, and a subtle trunk lid spoiler.
Interior Tweaks
In terms of interior, the forthcoming Honda Accord Sport Special Edition features a very comfortable and modern cabin. Basically, the layout is the same as on the regular model, and you can expect enough room for five occupants. However, Accord Sport Special Edition comes with some tweaks, including a leather seat trim, heating for the mirrors and front seats, an 8.0-inch touchscreen for the infotainment, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, keyless entry, and remote engine start.
Safety has always been a Honda priority, and the new one offers plenty of driver-assist features. It features forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist, road departure mitigation, and adaptive cruise control.
2022 Honda Accord Sport Special Edition Engine Specs
The 2022 Honda Accord Sport Special Edition is a sedan that offers three different engine options. The entry-level model uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4, which generates 192-horsepower. This engine is available with CVT and front-wheel drive. We’d recommend upgrading to a more powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 that delivers a fantastic output of 252 hp.
Unlike the first engine, this one comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Sadly, the manual transmission is no longer available and is dropped earlier in 2020. The last one uses a hybrid system, delivering 212 hp. This engine is the best in class, and is rated up to 48 mpg.
2022 Honda Accord Sport Special Edition Release Date and Price
The new Honda Accord Sport Special Edition, as we said earlier, will reportedly arrive later this year. Production of this model will take place at Honda’s plant in Marysville, Ohio.
Generally, Honda Accord Sport Special Edition looks attractive, sporty, and it features more standard equipment than the rest of the trims. According to Honda, the regular Accord should starts from $25,725, while Sport Special Edition might kiss $30,000.
