2021 Honda Brio Is Finally Refreshed

One of the smallest cars in Honda’s fleet Brio, is getting further updates. The new 2021 Honda Brio is confirmed and it will bring plenty of improvements. Its exterior is arguably the most compact in its segment and the manufacturer used a more sophisticated design.

Compared to most nowadays Honda models, the new Brio comes with a similar design language. Besides, this small car is available with a single-engine option and that’s probably the biggest disadvantage of this model.

2021 Honda Brio Design Update

The new 2021 Honda Brio design is similar as we saw on the current-gen Mobilio. Design is ordinary and some small improvements are visible over the previous model. The front is still funky with a mesh honeycomb grille and chrome crossbar dominating it. We can also see large angry headlights and bold lines that give a positive vibe.

At the back, the manufacturer also added a subtle spoiler and sharper taillight design. The base model also runs on 14-inch alloys that don’t look too shabby like before.

Cabin Looks Modern

Inside, this small car provides enough room for every passenger. Generally, the cabin is comfortable and Brio can host five persons. Plenty of elements looks familiar and that’s because the new model borrows many cues from the Mobilio. Also, it comes with a very modern dashboard, comfort fabric seats, friendly dark plastics, and a right-sized steering wheel. The cargo area is decent and it will be able to fit easily one large piece of luggage or several shopping bags.

Like before, we can expect probably a tight fit for three full-grown adults on the rear bench area. However, compared to the previous model, there is a noticeable improvement in legroom. In the tech department, Brio offers steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, power-folding mirrors, and a 7-inch infotainment system with six speakers. Also, Apple Carplay/Android Auto, Bluetooth, and USB port (for iPod connectivity) are standard. The safety of the new Brio is also better and this model host plenty of driver aids like ABS, anti-theft alarm, driver and passenger airbags, and keyless entry.

2021 Honda Brio Powertrain

Under the hood of small 2021 Honda Brio is only a single option engine available. Like before, this model will use a 1.2-liter SOHC i-VTEC capable delivering of 89hp at 6,000rpm and 110Nm of torque at 4,800rpm.

As you can see, this engine is basically downgraded. A previous model with the same engine produces 99 horses and 127Nm. This mill comes mated to a CVT as the only option. The front-wheel-drive system is standard, while there is no AWD to be chosen at all. The latest model comes with a MacPherson strut/Torsion beam suspension setup that is the best on the market. However, if Honda means to be more competitive, we think that adding an optional engine could result in a big plus.
