Great news, Honda lovers! The new 2023 Honda Civic Type R will reportedly arrive in June, featuring aggressive styling. In case you missed it, in the last few months, this model was spied testing on a few different locations. The hottest hatch from Japan that was spied testing last time has a lot of camouflages that cover all of its body. However, Honda teases us by revealing a prototype, which is wearing a little disguise.
Honda’s highest-performance hatchback model looks aggressive, and it features a distinct rear wing and a stylish wheel-and-tire package. Honda confirms that under the hood there is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, which should make more than currents 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.
2023 Honda Civic Type R First Look
The Japanese company has published the first photos of an upcoming Honda Civic Type R. The new model, as we can see, is wrapped in camouflage and is ready for testing on Germany’s demanding Nürburgring racetrack. It features a hatchback body style, and we noticed a large grille and new air intakes up front.
Also, unlike the regular Civic, the Type R features big fender flares up front, as well as rear vents. Thanks to that, the airflow can easily cool brakes. A rear diffuser is also visible, and it sits below three exhausts, while a large wing spoiler sits above the rear hatch.
More Sporty Interior
The forthcoming 2023 Civic Type R will have a more comfortable interior than its predecessor. As far as we know, the manufacturer will make the cabin of the new model with more racy visual cues. That means we can expect red accents, faux carbon-fiber trim, and very comfy and supportive seats. However, as the regular Civic model, the Type R version will come with the same digital gauge cluster and physical climate controls.
Honda’s latest infotainment system will be paired with a new 9.0-inch touchscreen that’s sitting on the top of the dashboard. We expect the Type R to come standard with features such as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless smartphone charging.
How Much Horsepower Will the 2023 Honda Civic Type R Have?
The new Honda Civic Type R will continue to be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. This engine will reportedly be more powerful than the current generation that makes 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Honda has confirmed that the Civic Type R will still have a standard manual transmission, but many believe it might also add a dual-clutch automatic that will match the Hyundai Veloster N model.
Unfortunately, Honda didn’t say how fuel-efficient this model will be in the city or on the highway. However, there is a pretty good chance that it could run around 75-mph on the highway.
Price, Release Date
The Japanese carmaker hasn’t said how much the 2023 Honda Civic Type R will cost, but we expect it to be under $40,000 when it goes on sale. However, we’re told that the new model will debut sometime in June this year.
